IFAC CAO´09 Final programme

DEAR COLLEAGUES

I have a great pleasure to invite you to visit Jyväskylä, Finland and

participate IFAC Workshop on Control Applications of Optimization. Besides a

dynamic and multidisciplinary university as a Workshop venue, Jyväskylä

offers a scenic and unpolluted environment with many lakes and forests. The

conference venue, Agora, is located in a beautiful setting next to a lake

and still very close to the heart of Jyväskylä.

Measured according to the number of Master's degree conferred, the

University of Jyväskylä ranks as the second largest university in the

country. The University has 16,000 students in addition to adult education

students, representing 40,000 students in total. Still, Jyväskylä itself is

conveniently sized and all services are within walking distance. Besides,

Jyväskylä can be conveniently reached from Helsinki by air, train, bus or

car.

The Department of Mathematical Information Technology hosting the Workshop

has long traditions in scientific computing, optimal control and

optimization and it gives us a great pleasure to welcome our colleagues

here. We shall do our best in making this a memorable event!

I look forward to seeing you in Jyväskylä in May - when the days in Finland

are getting longer and longer (which gives more time for fruitful and

inspiring discussions!).
